Employee Spotlight: Alina – Six Years of Dedication and Growth at Hose and Rubber Supply

At Hose and Rubber Supply, strong teams start with strong support behind the scenes—and Alina is a perfect example of just that. With more than six years under her belt, she has grown from a purchasing clerk into a trusted purchasing specialist for the Salt Lake City branch, playing a key role in keeping the shelves stocked and operations running smoothly.

From Clerk to Specialist

Alina’s journey with Hose and Rubber began as a purchasing clerk, responsible for handling inventory for both the Salt Lake and Provo branches. After proving herself as a detail-oriented and analytical team member, she was promoted to purchasing specialist two years ago. In this role, she focuses on Salt Lake purchasing and supports company operations through report building, price updates, and data work—often using SQL to craft custom reports. “I like being detail-oriented and analytical. It lets me tap into my creative side while also problem-solving,” she says.

Making the Transition

Before joining Hose and Rubber, Alina worked in purchasing for a promotional products company, handling a wide range of items, from branded t-shirts to swag items. When she discovered the Hose and Rubber opportunity, she knew she wanted to stay in a purchasing role, even though the industry was completely new to her. “It was overwhelming at first,” she recalls. “But it worked out. Six years later, I’m still here.”

What Keeps Her Coming Back

For Alina, it’s more than just a job. “It’s a great company to work for. The people are really wonderful, and the benefits are great. It feels like a family.” The collaborative, supportive environment has helped her grow and thrive while taking on more responsibility and gaining specialized knowledge in the field.

Life Beyond the Desk

Outside of work, Alina enjoys a quiet but creative life with her husband, two cats, and a pet snake. She’s a self-described “video game nerd,” and she and her husband play in a family band alongside two of his sisters. Alina takes the lead as the band’s singer, although for now, their performances are limited to jam sessions at home. “We’ve got all the equipment,” she laughs. “Maybe one day we’ll play a show!”
